Client and Color Story

Posted on October 8, 2011 at 4:05 PM

So as my ideas continued to solidify, I started thinking about who would wear my clothes.  I finally came up with a loose profile.

She is someone who is between the ages of 25-35, she works at an art gallery or antique dealer in an artsy area (like Laguna) and deals with high end clients; she sometimes gets invited to fancy events.  She is a bit quirky, maybe visiting Renaissance Fairs and other conventions in her spare time.  When she was younger, she did a lot of thrift store shopping and modifying things to make them unique.  Now that she's older and has a bit more money, she still seeks out vintage and unusual things, but can pay a bit more for them.  I think she would have somesort of crafty hobby/secondary source of income... maybe making custom leather-bound journals or something.

After developing a profile, we were asked to find pictures of what we thought she may look like, and also put together a "color story," using paint swatches to represent the colors we wanted to use in our line.

And my sketches continued...

I just have to comment...you almost described me with a few minor differences. I'm 53 and don't get to go to too many fancy affairs....but I would totally wear your garments!! I also studied Fashion Design at Palomar and in my younger days made my own clothing and loved the fun quirky stuff. OH yeah, i don't like the city but I did many a antique show in my day. Loved your colors too!! So yeah...we olders girls love to be fun and funky in fashion too!! Keep up the nice work.

great profile! So that's the kind of little girl that gets into leather book binding! I'm fascinated! When can we see some journals in your creations? ;) Great work!
